I want to wish you a most merry holiday season and may the New Year bring
fortune to you, your family, and your friends. May this time of the year and
through all of next year be filled with family, friends, and prosperity. Felicity
and I think we have everything ready for Christmas. Kids came for
Thanksgiving and when they left we discovered no leftovers! Holidays aren’t
the same without leftovers to nibble on. Turkey is a must for sandwiches. And,
how can you sneak a pastry or pie if they’re all gone. This time we got a bigger
turkey. But for us, the trees are up—we have two. The lights are on-we have
more than two. The neighbors are smiling—luckily we have good relationships.
This time of the year, my thoughts turn to our men and women in uniform who
are spending the holiday season away from their families doing the work of the
nation on the front lines of the War on Terrorism. Let’s pray for their safe and
expeditious return to their home.
The second book in the Sea Base series, PACIFIC THREAT, will be released
January 2nd. I put an excerpt from Chapter 1 at the bottom of the page. The
cover work is fantastic.
The graphic artists who do the covers for Berkley Publishing Group do some
fine art. PACIFIC THREAT is my 10th novel and I have been amazed with the
fine work they have done. The 11th book and the third/final book in the DARK
PACIFIC series will be released in mid-summer 2007. I want to thank you for
journeying alongside of me as I wrote these military adventures and for those
of you were kind enough to provide feedback (pros and cons) my thanks to you
also. It has been a thrill seeing them published and an honor of knowing you
were reading them. Your emails telling me were you bought the books are
appreciated. I enjoy seeing where the books are being sold from Hawaii to
Idaho to England to military bases across the globe to my own hometown of
Newnan, Georgia. Drop an email and let me know where you obtained your
copy of PACIFIC THREAT.
DARK PACIFIC seems to have disappeared from the shelves within days of
being released. Bookstores will work to obtain additional copies, if you ask
them. This is no cost to you. I recommend calling your favorite bookseller and
asking him or her to reserve a copy of PACIFIC THREAT for you when it is
released January 2nd. Below are links to some of the more prominent major
bookstores where you can find the telephone number and location near your
home.

Excerpt from PACIFIC THREAT:
“Here he comes,” Agazzi said, nodding over Jacobs’ shoulder.
Jacobs turned. “Damn. You’d think I’ve answered enough of his questions.
Maybe I’ll be lucky and it’ll be you he’ll want today.”
“Didn’t he interview you this morning about the events in the UUV
compartment?”
“Yeah. For the umpteenth time wanted to go over again what I saw and did
when I entered the Unmanned Underwater Vehicle compartment and
discovered Smith beating the shit out of you and about to cream your head with
that bar. I don’t know if he wants me to say I should have tried to reason with
Smith before tackling him, or if he wants me say I intentionally knocked him so
he’d fall through the well deck and into the ocean.”
“Just tell the truth.”
“I have. I told him the sharks leaped up through the opening, grabbed Smith,
and jumped back into the ocean. He didn’t seem to believe me. I even gave him
my theory of those sharks being reincarnated master chiefs. I’m sure I
recognized one of them from my early days in the Navy.”
Both turned as the NCIS agent reached them. “Morning, gentlemen,” Zeichner
said with a slight wave as he approached, a big smile stretching across his face.
“Not looking good.”
The three men stopped talking as the other F-22A completed the racetrack
landing circuit and made its final approach to the Sea Base. A minute later the
heavy Air Force fighter aircraft touched down.
“Well, Mr. Zeichner,” Agazzi said. “What’s the latest on this Smith? Figured
out who he was or whatever?”
“Ever hear of an organization or a religious group called God’s Army?”
Merry Christmas to all and a most happy New Year!
Cheers, David E. Meadows (Igor)
