Status of Current Effort
JOINT TASK FORCE LIBERIA is receiving a lot of attention because of the Liberian crisis. I have been asked how did I know Liberia would be the next crisis? I didn't. I do believe Africa is the next crisis we will have to face.
"If you enjoy a well told tale of action and adventure, you will love David Meadows' series The Sixth Fleet. Not only does the author know his subject but, in this case, what is historical fiction could readily become act. These books should be read by every senator and congressman in our government so that the scenarios there in do not become history."
--John Tegler, syndicated talk show host of "Capital Conversation."
I've never thought of my writings as visionary—just geopolitical sense. Africa is where we have to be more involved unless we want to see things coming out of it similar to what we see in the radical Islamic world. Chaos breeds chaos and within this cycle of chaos is the breeding grounds for terror as those within try to find something to lead them out of it. AIDS is a national security concern. AIDS has demolished the middle age group in Africa. This means a lack of mature leadership for the youth of Africa who are growing to that volatile hormonal teen and early twenty age group. The elderly group, above 50, is ill equipped to temper the youth of Africa and the 30-50 age group that could temper youth is way below the normal size it should be.
My editor informed me last week that JOINT TASK FORCE AMERICA, number 2 in the Joint Task Force series, will be released January 2004. JOINT TASK FORCE PHOENIX is the manuscript I'm working right now. I don't have a name for the last manuscript yet other than JOINT TASK FORCE Whatsit. Whatsit is my favorite non-title placeholder. The fourth book has to do with a downed EP-3E reconnaissance aircraft and the fate of the aircrew in the mayhem of civil unrest and warfare in West Africa. I have the outline for it, if I can keep my characters in line.
JOINT TASK FORCE AFRICA is
Meadows' newest novel scheduled for release in March 2005.
A Navy EP-3E is hit by a missile and before the pilot can
recover control of the aircraft four aircrew bail out over
West Africa, landing in the middle of an African civil war.
It is a fast-pace story as Admiral Holman races to rescue the
Sailors before they are killed or captured.
"Rip-snorting, realistic action-adventure from a man who has been there."
"When Meadows' men set sail, it's sure to be a mission like no other."
"Fast-paced, roller-coaster ride with this exhilarating military thriller. Dynamic writer with a fresh voice in this technical-ridden, yet intriguing genre."
"An absorbing, compelling look at America's future. Visionary, scary. Great battle scenes, believable heroes, plus villains you'll love to hate!"
