Update notice:
JOINT TASK FORCE LIBERIA hit the streets September 6, 2003 and quickly rose to the top twenty on Amazon dot COM Men's Adventure/War & Military Fiction lists. JOINT TASK FORCE AMERICA is already available for prepublication purchase from your favorite bookstore or from one of the Internet booksellers. It's scheduled for release January 04. I have recently finished the third book in the Joint Task Force series; JOINT TASK FORCE FRANCE. I haven't received a release date for JTF FRANCE, but most likely, it will be summer 04 and I'm sure the French will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I have started the last book in the series, JOINT TASK FORCE AFRICA, and have finished chapter one.
The thing about writing is you have to want to do it. You actually have to pound those keys and do it. It is amazing the number of people I have had the pleasure of meeting who have always wanted to write. The challenge for most is finding time and deciding subject. If you want to write, then you have to find the time; the place. Then, you have to sit down and pound those keys. The majority of people who tell me they want to write have great stories to tell. It looks as if time and subject is the challenge.
I hear from a few who tell they ordered my books from Amazon dot COM or Barnes and Noble dot COM. The book rankings on both of these giants of the book world are derived from daily tally of sales. Most of the mainstream publishing world will tell you not to take much notice of these sales rankings because they mean little in total popularity across the nation. That being said, I still use the rankings as a management tool to tell me where my audience is located and though it may have little business meaning, there is an intrinsic value on knowing where your book rests among other books. I was sitting around the other day, pontificating—Sailors are great pontificators—wondering what would happen if those ordering from these Internet giants all placed orders on the same day? What if we organized and ordered JOINT TASK FORCE AMERICA on a specific day in January? Would it change the sales rankings? I don't know, but would love to find out. If you're interested in participating, drop me an email.
This is my second SIXTH FLEET NEWSLETTER. I have added an item submitted by a reader, a shipmate of mine, and long time friend about the great state of South Carolina organizing its own state Navy to help with the global war on terrorism and augment the Coast Guard efforts along the coast. Which raises the question as to how many States have their own Navy? Does yours?
JOINT TASK FORCE AFRICA is
Meadows' newest novel scheduled for release in March 2005.
A Navy EP-3E is hit by a missile and before the pilot can
recover control of the aircraft four aircrew bail out over
West Africa, landing in the middle of an African civil war.
It is a fast-pace story as Admiral Holman races to rescue the
Sailors before they are killed or captured.
"Rip-snorting, realistic action-adventure from a man who has been there."
"When Meadows' men set sail, it's sure to be a mission like no other."
"Fast-paced, roller-coaster ride with this exhilarating military thriller. Dynamic writer with a fresh voice in this technical-ridden, yet intriguing genre."
"An absorbing, compelling look at America's future. Visionary, scary. Great battle scenes, believable heroes, plus villains you'll love to hate!"
