Once again, Capt. David Meadows takes us right to the
bridge, in the cockpit, into the thick of battle. Meadows is a
military adventure writer who's been there, done it all, and
knows the territory. This is as real as it gets. Highly
recommended.
"David E. Meadows is the real thing, a Naval officer with
intimate knowledge of military equipment and application of
combat arms, and the ability to relate it to others."
Navy Seal Tucker Raleigh and his crew are on a mission. A
freighter is headed to the east coast of the U.S. for only one
reason, to bring death and destruction to this country. Abu
Alhaul, a known terrorist with ties to the Al Quieda, has a
score to settle with Tucker and doesn't seem to care how
many die in the process. As the freighter heads toward our
coast, the entire crew is infected with smallpox. The plan is
to have the crew infect the population once the ship comes
into the harbors setting off a massive chain reaction that will
cause panic and destruction. Tucker's mission: find this
madman and stop him. Action and suspense are the key
words in this novel. With the state of the events gong on
today, this fictional work is too close to believable. by
Louise Riveiro-Mitchell author of Autumn Sky February
2004 "David Meadows delivers one heck of a fast-paced,
roller-coaster ride with this exhilarating military thriller.
The battle scenes, both in the air and on the ground, are
galvanizing - the best I have read yet - suspense-filled and
invigorating. Meadows' sense of characterization is well
defined, and he has the unique ability to clarify for civilian
readers the military mindset, along with the complicated
machinery, technical terms, and acronyms within the military
lingo. One does hope, however, that Meadows does not
prove to be prophetic. The events depicted within the book
could easily become fact in today's world, which makes the
read even more powerful. A dynamic writer with a fresh
voice in this somewhat complicated, technical-ridden, yet
intriguing genre. Highly recommended."
JOINT TASK FORCE AMERICA is book two in the Joint
Task Force series by David E. Meadows. Meadows is a
Captain in the US Navy, serving at the Pentagon on the Joint
Staff of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. His expertise serves to
enhance a well-developed sense of drama mixed with
interesting, believable characters, and galvanizing action
scenes. Terrorist Abu Alhaul blames US Navy SEAL
Commander Tucker Raleigh for the death of his family and
seeks vengeance against him. After an assassination team
fails to kill Raleigh, Abu Alhaul deploys a freighter carrying
undisclosed cargo to America. If the freighter reaches
American soil, the devastation will be horrendous and many
lives will be lost. International intelligence is aware of the
freighter but not of its destination nor the exact nature of its
dangerous cargo. The Americans, British, and French work
together to hunt the freighter, using Raleigh as bait. When
intelligence suspects the freighter is headed for Europe, most
of the American fleet sails in that direction. Raleigh is sent
to the Virginia coast, which is being battered by an
approaching hurricane, unaware that the freighter is headed
his way.

awhile when you pick up this book. The pace is exhilarating
and the read so compelling you will not want to put it down.
Meadows is the master at creating action scenes packed with
tension, dialogue that rings true, and a story line that is so
believable, it's scary. His sense of characterization is
outstanding: the terrorists he depicts are portrayed so well,
they become frightening to the reader, and Admiral Holman
and Chief of Staff Leonard Upmann feel like old friends.
Meadows offers a welcome touch of romance with this
book, a respite against the horrendous doings of the
terrorists. No one can top him at describing battle scenes,
whether in air or, with this one, on the sea. A powerful,
thoroughly entertaining read. Highly recommended.
JOINT TASK FORCE AFRICA is
Meadows' newest novel scheduled for release in March 2005.
A Navy EP-3E is hit by a missile and before the pilot can
recover control of the aircraft four aircrew bail out over
West Africa, landing in the middle of an African civil war.
It is a fast-pace story as Admiral Holman races to rescue the
Sailors before they are killed or captured.
"Rip-snorting, realistic action-adventure from a man who has been there."
"When Meadows' men set sail, it's sure to be a mission like no other."
"Fast-paced, roller-coaster ride with this exhilarating military thriller. Dynamic writer with a fresh voice in this technical-ridden, yet intriguing genre."
"An absorbing, compelling look at America's future. Visionary, scary. Great battle scenes, believable heroes, plus villains you'll love to hate!"
